WHY URAMERICA?
UrAmerica is already the largest and most advanced private uranium exploration company in Argentina and Latin America.
- Local management team with extensive mining experience, thorough knowledge of the regional geology, and strong relationships with authorities from the federal and provincial governments.
- Commitment to protect the local environment and communities where we operate.
- Cost efficient implementation of our exploratory budgets.
- In UrAmerica's Argentine licensed areas, most of which are adjacent to CNEA mines, uranium anomalies have been detected.
- UrAmerica has remained a private company since it was founded. As a result, UrAmerica was not exposed during the economic crisis and was able to preserve its capital. Since 2008, we have been able to strengthen our assets through strategic joint ventures and acquisitions.
- UrAmerica will await more favorable market conditions before an eventual IPO.
- Niger Uranium Ltd (ex Uramin), amongst other partners, adds value through their technical assistance and mining expertise.
UrAmerica is part of an ever growing industry that provides a clean source of energy and plays a key role in the global energy solution.
- Securing energy resources while reducing greehouse gas emissions has become an international priority.
- Just 15% of the world's electricity comes from nuclear power, with 435 nuclear reactors currently operating.
- 53 new reactors are under construction worldwide and over 130 are on order or planned.
- Global uranium production is 115 million lbs per year, far less than the 180 million lbs consumed.
- Uranium production from mines has not met demand since the early 90's. The remainder has been supplied by nuclear arms conversion in the US and Russia. However, these stockpiles are depleting or being save for the countries' own nuclear programs, requiring an increase in production from the mining industry.
- U3O8 spot price at US$46.50/lbs (August 16, 2010). Despite the lingering effects of the crisis, analysts predict a mid-term price benchmark of US$50/lbs and a long term price benchmark of US$60/lbs.
UrAmerica operates primarily in Argentina, where infrastructure and potential exists in uranium exploration and mining, milling and refining, and nuclear power generation.
- Argentina is the largest nuclear power generator in the region, alongside Brazil, with 2 nuclear reactors in operation, 1 under construction and 1 under development. Nuclear power currently generates nearly 10% of the country's electricity.
- 100% of the uranium needed for local consumption (over 315,000 lbs) is currently being imported.
- Uranium mining in Argentina had been carried out for 35 years by the CNEA (National Comission of Atomic Energy) until 1997. Most of the national uranium production came for the Don Otto Mine (Salta Basin), Los Adobes Mine (Chubut Basin), and Sierra Pintada (Mendoza Basin), amongst others, cumulatiely producing over 5.5 million lbs.
- Argentina has the capacity to carry out many of the steps in the fuel cycle, including milling (330,000 lbs/year), conversion (130,000 lbs/year), fuel assemblage (330,000 lbs/year) and heavy water production (440,000 lbs/year). Enrichment services are currently imported and used fuel reprocessing is still experimental.
